The one change every business should make on their Facebook page

When a business (or any individual) creates a Facebook page, the page is given a numbered ID that appears in the URL of the Facebook page. That ID is a unique identifier.

Here’s an example:

It’s not pretty and can be difficult to remember, especially if you’re advertising your Facebook page.

Fortunately, Facebook gives you the option to replace the numbered ID with a custom-made URL that’s easier to share with others. For example, my Facebook page has one. This makes it easy to tell others, “You can follow my page on Facebook at wichitabyeb.

It’s one piece of advice I always tell other businesses to do when they create a page. So, I decided to write a quick guide to walk you through the process of changing your Facebook URL.

Well, let us guide you through the process of changing your Facebook URL. This can also be found on Facebook’s help section. The following instructions are best used on a desktop.

To change your Facebook Page URL, do the following:
  • Log into Facebook, then click your profile photo in the top right section.
  • This will bring a dropdown where you can view all profiles you have access to, including your business page. Select the page you want to change the URL for.
  • Once you are in your Page’s profile, click Settings & Privacy, then click Settings

  • On the next page, click Page setup
  • A list of options will come up for page setup, click View, next to Name.

  • Here you can change the name of your page and the URL. To change the URL, click on Edit next to your username.

  • Update your username with what you want your Facebook URL to be. If you type in something, and it’s available, a green checkmark will appear along with the words Username is available.

  • Click save changes and your URL will change to what your username is.

Boom! That’s all you have to do!

Be sure to select a name that is easy to share. If your business is a common name, and you’re a local business, sometimes it’s best practice to add Wichita following your business name.

A great example is a local restaurant called The Kitchen. The word kitchen is a pretty common word. To make their URL easy to remember, they chose the username “thekitchenwichita”. It’s easy to remember, simple to type and now the team can say, “Follow thekitchenwichita on Facebook”.

But if you have a business name that is relatively unique, you can change your URL to just your business name. For example, Ziggy’s Pizza’s URL is simply “ziggyspizza”. Doo-Dah Diner is “doodahdiner”.

This change is so easy and will make your life easier when it comes to pushing people to your Facebook page to follow, leave a review, or anything. It also makes it easier for others to tag the business online.
