Delicious dipped pretzels to benefit women survivors of domestic abuse

I love to eat but when eating involves a good cause, it’s even better.

WIN (aka the Women’s Initiative Network) is a local non-profit collaborative endeavor that provides women survivors of domestic abuse with educational and employment opportunities fostering healing and self-sufficiency. What they do is a big deal because abused women experience more physical health problems and have higher occurrence of depression, substance abuse and suicide attempts than do women who are not abused. The increased annual health care costs for victims of domestic violence can persist as much as 15 years after the cessation of abuse.

It’s an issue that has hit very close to home with some family members so it’s certainly a cause I can stand for.

What WIN does is offer a supportive environment for women in transition, providing advocacy, emotional support, mentoring, coaching and teaching that allows them to regain economic stability in today’s workforce. Simply providing survivors of domestic abuse with job readiness training, a limited income and educational opportunities is not enough. Recovery from abuse requires a holistic approach. WIN focuses on the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of life so that true healing can take place. The women of WIN learn a variety of skills including food handling and packaging, problem solving, basic work-place etiquette, and interview/job search.

It’s a group that doesn’t get as much pub and praise around town compared to other local non-profits. Funding is also a resource that is always in need.

To help a little with this, they have started selling pretzels dipped in milk chocolate,
peanut butter, sea salt caramel and white chocolate coatings. After that, the pretzels are sprinkled with a variety of toppings.

I picked some up because how can you go wrong with delicious dipped pretzels? The kids had some and loved every one of them. The white chocolate were my personal favorite but you can’t go wrong with any of them.

They are packaged separately and sold individually, in 12 and 24 packs. You can order dipped pretzels by calling the WIN office at 316-262-3960 or ordering online here.

Many places around town are also selling them including:

If you’re a store, restaurant, brewery or whatever that would like to carry them and help out, you can contact the WIN office at 316-262-3960.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
