Must Try Menu Item: Old Mill Tasty Shop's Green Chili

Let’s talk chili. It’s that time of year when chili cook-off’s are starting to take place, football watch parties include chili and cooler weather will soon be here to accompany the delicious dish. Chili is one of the few dishes I’ll cook at home a few times during the fall and winter. Then I’ll sometimes eat the entire crockpot by myself over the duration of a day.

On the topic of chili, where does one go for really good chili? Let’s answer that in the latest installment of my favorite feature: “Must Try Menu Item“.

Old Mill Tasty Shop has one of my favorite bowls in town. Their Green Chili is one everybody should try at least once. It comes as a side for $2.50, in a cup for $4.25 or in a bowl for $6.50. It’s topped with cheese and served with a tortilla.

The flavor is just incredible. There’s a slight bit of heat in each bite, but minor enough that the weakest of palates can have it. There are times I’ll go in strictly for a bowl and call it good for the day. It’s big enough that it’s filling with all the beef inside and tortilla on the side, but not so much you’re stuffed headed back to work. On taste alone, it’s hard for other green chilis to compete.
