When it comes to Top Ten Street Tacos in Wichita, it’s hard to create a list without Taco’s Alondra. They were the originator of the also hotly talked about Mr. Taco which is now known as Tacos Alex. Over a year ago, they went their separate ways and started this restaurant on west 21st street.

Tacos Alondra covers the wide spectrum of the most popular meat options you’ll find at these type of restaurants. They have cow tongue, chicken, pork stomach, cow intestines, shredded pork, pork, cow head, beef steak and barbecue.
Every visit I now go with a mix of buche (pork stomach), al pastor (pork) lengua (cow tongue), tripitas (cow intestines), asada (beef steak) and cabeza (cow head). I want a little bit of everything.
At $1.86 a taco, it’s a nice little price point that makes it easy to always try the whole gamut they have available.
The food didn’t take long at all and was served with a red and green salsa. If you love cilantro and onion, they have you covered. If you don’t, feel free to take some of it off.
The corn taco shells came with a nice crisp to keep the entire taco in tact even after loads of salsa poured inside. While the tacos may look small when you first get them, they were loaded with plenty of meat to fill you up. Leaving hungry was not an option.
If you’re a fan of tripitas and buche, they have some of the best in town. Each have the right texture for the protein. The buche were tender and not too chewy while the tripitas were crispy just like I preferred. Those people hesitant to try some of the off meats would like their al pastor and barbacoa. On many visits, the tacos were never super fatty, greasy, or overcooked. They were consistent for so long at Mr. Taco and that carried over to Tacos Alondra.
In the discussion of great tacos, this one sometimes gets lost in the shuffle perhaps to how new they are. I don’t know but for me, they are top ten for sure.
