Today marks the first day of Lent. Many people will be giving up meat on Fridays so I thought it’d be fun over the next 40 days to throw out dish suggestions from restaurants that will appeal to those people. Some of these will be from restaurants you may not even think to go to for Lent so hopefully this will introduce diners to different places instead of your traditional seafood or fish spots.
First is the Cajun seasoned smoked salmon at Pig In Pig Out BBQ. The BBQ restaurant that is very popular for their meats also has a salmon option with lemon pepper or Cajun seasoning on Ash Wednesday and every Friday throughout Lent.
You can get the salmon itself or as a meal like I did which comes with two sides for $13.49.
It’s delicious and the Cajun seasoning is subtle yet noticeable. What I loved most about this dish was the smokey aftertaste it provided. It was tender, slightly flaky but most of all incredible.
What else should I try over the next 40 days? Let’s see your suggestions in the comments below.

Leeker’s in Park City has excellent catfish in their deli on Friday nights. If you are looking for meat, their ribs and fried chicken are delicious too. Also the baked beans. (I’m not an employee, just a happy customer)
