Lent Options: Leo’s Taqueria’s tostadas

Another Friday marks another day when restaurants and food trucks will be promoting their meat-free options for Lent observers. For the latest Lent visit, I swung over to Leo’s Taquería. They are a food truck parked out at Westway Plaza and Seneca & Pawnee. The truck is usually there from Thursday on through the weekend but you can check their Facebook page to see if they are out.

If you LOVE seafood and spicy food, there’s one combination you have to try. It’s the tostadas de mango aguachile y ceviche. Basically this is a tostada topped with ceviche, roasted mango habaneros and other spices then layered with avocado on top. If you don’t like the spicy, get ceviche which includes citrus cured fish and shrimp

At $4, both were incredible values and delicious. I’ve had a lot of tostadas at trucks and restaurants around town and theirs are my favorite. It was incredibly flavorful with loads of different spices on top that brought a ton of heat. The spicy version packs so much heat, I was close to crying. There was also plenty of ceviche to go around and made for an awesome and filling lunch. The regular ceviche tostada is just as good and not spicy at all. It had a much lighter taste to it.

For safe measure because I didn’t give up pigging out for Lent, I ordered a shrimp taco. It might as well have been another tostada for how big it was. The slaw mixture and dressing over the top was amazing. I also started to get food drunk at this time as I was getting super full.

Leo’s Taquería & Catering also serves burritos, quesadillas, and more but do yourself a favor and add a tostada to your order. Be sure to like them on Facebook as well.

In case you’re curious what their quesadillas look like, here you go. It’s a family favorite.
