Thai House Revisited

Thai House

It’s long been one of my favorite Thai restaurants in town, and I had to make sure it was a stop on my visits down West Street. If you’ve never been; add this to your list. Thai HouseĀ is located at 969 N. West Street in a tiny little strip center.

For those people that love eating at local places, you’d be happy that this is a family-owned restaurant. Despite their size in the tiny little space, they are still pushing out delicious dishes 5 days a week.

Thai House has the feel of a true mom-and-pop shop. The inside only has seating for a minimal number of people.

Many previous visits have included their most popular dish, pad Thai. But for me, I wanted to do something a little different. While an order of shrimp pad Thai was ordered for someone else, I went with the Thom Yum Koong (shrimp soup) and Nuea Paad Nam-Mun Hoi which is stir-fried beef, mushroom with oyster sauce.

It took maybe 15 minutes for my order to be done.

Nuea Paad Nam-Mun Hoi wasn’t overly spicy or particularly aromatic, but the simple dish had such a nice combination of flavors. It’d make for a great starter dish for those who are worried about trying different styles of food.

Meanwhile, the Thom Yum Koong was the opposite in terms of its vibrant aromatic citrus-like smell and flavor. Depending on how you order it, it can be every bit of spicy, sour, savory, and addictive.

You will definitely want to add this place to your list of restaurants to try in town if you haven’t already. Good food, good people, a complete win-win for any diner.
