A new ice cream, coffee shop and novelty store opened up in Clifton Square called Papa’s General Store. We stopped by last week to check it out and get a glimpse of what you can expect on your first visit.

Inside the two-floor shop, there’s a little bit of everything to help pass the time while you’re in College Hill. The first floor holds the coffee shop and ice cream.
Meanwhile, the second floor is the novelty shop with gifts and all the socks you could ask for.
For our first visit, we ordered affogato, ice cream, and cappuccino. The kids very much enjoyed their ice cream. Let’s face it, ice cream would have to be REALLY bad for a kid not to enjoy it. They finished theirs in what felt like seconds.
The whole reason for me pushing the visit to Papa’s General Store was to check out their coffee printer which allows customers to have photos printed into the foam of their drink. To do this, I had to download the Ripples app, upload my photo, send it to the printer via the app and boom! My daughter appeared in my cappuccino nearly instantly. As for how it tasted, since I don’t drink coffee much I’m the last person who should be reviewing cappuccino.

Otherwise, it was a cool little spot in Clifton Square. One that could very well be a nice family addition to go along with Ziggy’s Pizza and Dempsey’s Burger Pub.
