Torchy’s Tacos is still coming to east Wichita

A question many people have been asking is whether Torchy’s Tacos was still coming to Wichita.

Word came out that they were going to open at the southwest corner of 21st and Rock Road in the former Clark’s Fine Jewelers/Mattress Firm space next door to Pizza Hut. Then COVID-19 took place and construction slowed down severely but it now looks like that things are finally taking shape.

At this point, it appears Torchy’s Taco will indeed be making their debut in Wichita at 2191 N Rock Road. For now, that’s even confirmed on the company website as seen below:

Rumor has it a second Torchy’s Taco will be headed to west Wichita. I’ll keep an eye out on that one to see what else I can find out.

If you’re unfamiliar with Torchy’s Tacos, they started out as a food trailer in Austin, TX. Since then, they’ve grown to over 80 locations in the U.S. The closest locations are in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Edmond and Norman. I’ve been to a Torchy’s Tacos location with friends in Texas before years ago and remember all of us liking but then again, I’ve lost a lot of brain cells since that time. So I’m looking forward to a refresher in the future.

As you can guess, the restaurant specializes in tacos. Their motto is ‘Damn Good’ tacos. Here’s a copy of one of their menus. You’ll notice they also feature a Taco of the Month.

Stay tuned for more information on Torchy’s Tacos.

Happy Dining,
Eddy

  1. Just saw this info on Torchy’s. This was only because they have started construction on N Maize road for the West location that I searched.
I was doing the happy dance in the car, at the stop light, when I saw it. I love Torchy’s. I eat there every visit to Houston with my kiddos. Always a line but WORTH IT! I have a permanent smile on my face looking forward to the West opening.
