Hot Stone Korean Grill Revisited

For the longest time, I had a set of friends where we’d visit Hot Stone Korean Grill on a monthly basis. Over time, one of my friends moved away, so the tradition ended. Years later with that friend visiting Wichita, we scheduled some time to get the gang together and grab lunch. Where did we go? Hot Stone, of course.

We started off our lunch with the tempura sampler. It included 3 fried mandu, 2 vegetable, 3 shrimp and 2 egg rolls. It was the perfect bite-size finger foods to share over our lunch group.

For lunch, everybody went with their Hot Stone go-to’s over lunch which were the bento boxes.

Each box comes with rice and the meat of your choice along with Korean pancakes (tempura vegetable), cooked bean sprouts, and a small salad. The meat options consisted of beef bulgogi to spicy pork to tofu teriyaki to many others. All bento boxes on the lunch menu were $9.45 and under making for an incredibly affordable and quick lunch. We also went with a bowl of ramen.

My particular bento box was the Squid Bulgogi. It was incredibly flavorful and just as good as I remember having it for so many years. All the sides may look small but add up and make for a very worthwhile meal to help get you through the day. It doesn’t make you feel bloated; just satisfied and happy.

As for the ramen, it was decent. I’d rank it in the middle tiers of ramen around town. The broth was just lacking a tad bit. Regardless it was still enjoyable but like I said… there’s better in town.

One of the best parts about Hot Stone is the service there has always been fantastic. Sometimes they can run a little slow being short-staffed. On the day we went, they didn’t have many customers, so everything was perfect. Even though north Rock Road has quite a bit of traffic, Hot Stone doesn’t seem to get a lot of that traffic which is unfortunate because their food is pretty delicious. I could eat a Bento Box every day and be happy.

Happy Dining,
