It’s been roughly two years since they opened and the last time I stepped inside this restaurant. I happened to be nearby one afternoon and decided to stop in to revisit Gerardo’s Restaurant for my second time.

If you’ve never been, their menu features the whole gamut of Mexican goodness. There are hamburgers, burritos, tacos, combination plates, enchiladas, flautas, tostadas, and even beer and breakfast.
On my last visit, I went with tacos. I decided to go a different route and ordered an adobada burrito that came with pico del gallo and guacamole. It was a bit cool out, so I ordered a cup of consomé to sip on.
The staff handed me some complimentary chips and showed me the salsa bar. For all salsa lovers, I highly recommend their pineapple salsa which I was told had apples in it as well. It was very sweet but had a lingering bit of heat that tickled my taste buds. The salsa was easily one of the best ones I’ve had in town. I plan to go back specifically for it.
Once the consomé arrived, things just got better. The consomé was warm, bold and flavorful. It was the perfect sipper for the first cool day of fall.
Gerardo’s burrito was different from some other Mexican restaurants. Theirs had less girth and was longer, which made it easier to consume by hand. Don’t get me wrong, I love big thick burritos, but they can become really messy. The burrito was packed with tons of adobada which was mild and sweet. Of course, I had to top it with the pineapple and apple salsa. It was so much food, I couldn’t even finish it.
I loved my revisited stop at Gerardo’s. There wasn’t a single complaint to be had. The staff, I believe, was a father/mother/son trio which made it even better. I’m all for supporting restaurants that are run and operated solely by the family.
Here’s their menu:
