You can get deep dish pizza out of your oven with The Dish Famous Pizza

There’s a segment of people who absolutely love deep dish pizza. Wichita, is by no means a hot bed for it, but you can get it at Big B’s Beef. Recently, I came across a version of it in the freezer section at Dillons. They typically run $9.99 but are occasionally on sale for $7.99 and come in multiple flavors like pepperoni, beef and pepperoni, cheese and 5-meat.

I’m not a huge deep dish pizza fan, but wanted to pick one up just to try. Let’s check it out.

There are three steps to preparing the deep dish pizza:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Microwave the pizza for 3 minutes
  • Bake for 15 minutes

The pizza was vacuum sealed to ensure freshness. I followed all the instructions as stated and had my pizza prepared in roughly 20-25 minutes. Even though the directions say to bake for 15 minutes, I wasn’t pleased with the initial result and put it back in for another 5 minutes.

The pizza was fairly heavy; there was definitely some girth to it. The crust had a nice crunch to it and held it altogether. There was no shortage of cheese, meat and sauce spread throughout and inside. It felt as you got your money’s worth in terms of what you received versus what you paid. The sauce was decent, it was sweet and well-seasoned. Each bite was a mouthful.

By no means is it comparable to the deep dish at Big B’s or even the ones I’ve had in Chicago. I’d say it was probably one of the better frozen pizzas around; more so if deep dish pizzas are your thing.

For $7.99-$9.99, you could probably feed 2-4 people, depending on how hungry everyone is. If anything, it’s something novel to try that you can’t find much around town.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
