The dirty soda craze has arrived at Papa’s General Store’s with Sassy Sodas

Have you ever heard of a dirty soda? It’s a popular craze that started in Utah, where there’s a large Mormon population. Because they don’t drink alcohol or coffee, these drinks were created as a way to enjoy mixed drinks of the non-alcoholic kind.

Dirty sodas which are like an Italian soda or a customized non-alcoholic fizzy cocktail that is fountain soda mixed with flavored syrups and cream. That means the combinations are endless. After reading up on them, the original dirty soda was Diet Coke over ice and then mixed with coconut syrup, lime juice and half-and-half.

I haven’t seen them around town until Papa’s General Store. They just released their version called Sassy Sodas this month. You know, I had to try them.

Home to zany socks, extreme milkshakes and everything in between, it only made sense for Papa’s General Store to add this drink to their collection of fun.

Their menu (available below) offered four sizes of drinks between 16 ounces and 44 ounces ranging between $1.49 and $2.99; a very inexpensive way to partake in the craziness. They have preset creations to choose from along with sodas with bubbles and energizers. There was an option to add vodka if you wanted to make them really sassy.

We went with their Papa Pepper which was Dr. Pepper, raspberry and Italian sweet cream, the Red Slipper Sipper which was Sprite, strawberry, and Italian sweet cream. Then to round it out, we had the Papa on the Beach which was sparkling water, peach, coconut, and pineapple.

It’s truly crazy the things people come up with. I have to say, I was hesitant to try a soda with cream in it, but they were excellent!

The Red Slipper Sipper was my favorite, followed by the Papa Pepper.
