A new food truck opened in the fall of 2022 and debuted at one of the Halloween events around Wichita. Abuelita’s Cocina serves street tacos, tortas, burritos, and quesadillas.

This was one of those instances where I didn’t know of their existence and randomly came across them while covering events around Wichita. I had just eaten earlier, but figured I’d place a small order to try them out.
I went with the al pastor and asada taco along with a cup of elote. The elote was a good, healthy dose of corn with all the fixings. It truly is a wonderful food truck food for how portable it is; no problems here. Then after that, the al pastor and asada were a little lackluster. Both meats were more on the dry side and just underwhelming. I drenched both tacos in salsa, but that didn’t help out matters too much.
It was a quick, brief stop to Abuelita’s Cocina. Although my first impression of the tacos weren’t the greatest, I’ll have to check them out if I happen to see them out again.
