A new dining option has opened inside Intrust Bank Arena at 500 E. Waterman. The Philadelphia-based Chickie’s & Pete’s is a restaurant that specializes in crabless crab fries, chicken and more.
There is a major difference between the version inside the arena versus the full-service restaurants around the country. The key thing is the slimmed down menu of crabfries and tenders (regular tenders and Buffalo tenders) here in Wichita.
Chickie’s & Pete’s is most known for their crab fries, which are crinkle-cut fries and seasoned with a secret blend of crab spices, not to be confused with Old Bay seasoning.
Chickie’s & Pete’s hosted a ribbon cutting event to let the media, bloggers, and others in the community try out the fries and tender. Tshirts and hats were also given out, so if you see someone walking around Wichita in a Chickie’s & Pete’s shirt, there’s a 5% chance it’s me.
As always, with complete transparency, all guests were treated to a sample of the fries and chicken. And because of the free meals, I’m leaving opinions regarding the food out of this, as to avoid bias (sub-conscious or not) of any sort. Rest assured, I’ll be back at the arena sooner than later for a concert, so stay tuned.
