Attending my very first murder mystery dinner at The Selfie Spot

In a city where people complain about only having the same things to do for fun, have you ever considered a murder mystery dinner at The Selfie Spot?

Murder mystery dinners have long been on my list of something to do. I know there are some others around town, but I wanted something very interactive and engaging, and that’s something The Selfie Spot promised when theirs were announced.

For starters, if you’ve never been to The Selfie Spot, they are located at 1811 E. Douglas. It’s a fun, Instagrammable and photo-filled experience that contains multiple selfie booths that are seasonally themed. And with fall here, they went with a Halloween and spooky carnival theme.

To add to the fun, The Selfie Spot announced a murder mystery dinner series. The first one was a Halloween themed dinner that sold out on the first day tickets were released. Megan, a couple of friends and I attended the first one and it was so much fun!

Literally, everything about the night was fantastic. The story, the characters, how charismatic and engaging the other participants were, the organization of the event, and of course, the food. Dinner was provided by Station 8 BBQ and desserts by Enticing Icing. There was also a cash bar where a drink ticket was included with the ticket purchase.

Tickets to the event (and future events) were $75 and that included a few hours of entertainment, dinner, the aforementioned drink ticket, and access to The Selfie Spot after the murder mystery

Leading up to the event, participants were asked to pick up character cards that explained who you were and how to dress. It’s the type of event, you want to go all out for. And the people who attended our murder mystery dinner had some outlandish and awesome costumes.

I won’t get into the actual murder mystery because that would ruin the fun. Let’s just say, everybody at the party was in full character, which helps with the fun of the night. You have to step out of your shell and willing to talk to complete strangers; that’s part of the fun in solving the murder.

Does someone die during the dinner? Of course, that’s the point of it. Subsequently, each character was given some clues unique to their character and tasked with asking questions to solve the mystery.

The entire group who attended night one really made the night. Having people who engage and have fun with it, really sold it for us. And the staff at The Selfie Spot was the cherry on top!

Needless to say, my very first murder mystery dinner was a huge success. And in case you’re wondering, I was one of a handful of attendees who did correctly guess the murderer.
