Kansas Railfest
One event that’s very unique in Wichita and fun for the family is Kansas Railfest which takes place at the Great Plains Transportation Museum.
The one-of-a-kind event celebrates the history of railroads in Kansas and beyond. It also serves as a fundraiser for the museum as vent proceeds go towards helping the museum’s mission – to preserve and convey the unique history of railroading in the Great Plains through acquisition, restoration, research, exhibition, and education.
Kansas Railfest starts in the morning and runs through most of the afternoon.
It features live music, food, balloon animals, guests locomotive, demonstrations, trains and more.
Everybody also gets the opportunity to take a short train ride through the museum grounds. It’s a festival favorite that draws in people of all ages.
Admission is $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 for ages 7-12, and kids 6 and under are FREE.
