Sweet Swapper is the dessert ATM dishing out cupcakes

Sweet Swapper

If you’re on the upper level at Towne East Mall, you will come across a dessert ATM called Sweet Swapper.

It’s the first of its kind in Wichita, and something you may have seen in bigger cities like Las Vegas. Sweet Swapper is just like a snack machine that dispenses treats, only in this case, it’s cupcakes.

There were four flavors to choose from that ran $5.99 per cupcake or an assortment of 4 for $20.99. They had Red Velvet, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Vanilla Confetti Bliss, and Triple Chocolate.

It was a no-brainer that I went with an assortment of four. I used the touchscreen to place an order, paid with a card, and then the machine went to work to dispense my cupcakes.

Visually, Sweet Swapper was cool to watch. Many people, walking by, had to stop what they were doing to see the ATM machine at work.

So, the important question, “How did they taste?”

To start, ignore the picture below. The presentation from the machine was better. I was just clumsy on the way home. When I did arrive, I passed the cupcakes around to my family, who all gave their input.

Everyone loved the buttercream frosting. That was easily the favorite part, but the cupcake itself wasn’t bad either. For something inside a machine, they were quite moist. The biggest disappointment was the size of the cupcake. Each one was fairly small. So small, that some people might even be able to eat the cupcake in one bite.

All in all, Sweet Swapper was fun and festive. Just seeing a machine dispense a cupcake can be pretty cool to watch, especially for kids.

The biggest concern is the $5.99 price tag for the cupcake. They were good cupcakes, but there are plenty of places in town to get cupcakes for half the price. And with the size of them, most of my family questioned whether they would go out and make the purchase themselves. Instead, they’d just leave it to the blogger willing to drop money for the sake of a blog.

Most people probably won’t go out of their way to visit Sweet Swapper, but if you’re in the area, it could be a fun little moment. Like I said earlier, everyone thought it was a good cupcake, especially one that came from an “ATM machine”. Whether you find the experience fun and the cupcake worthwhile, is entirely up to you.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
