First Look at Pho Kim

A restaurant has taken over the former Pho MC space that quietly closed down last year at 1675 S. Rock Road. Pho Kim, a Vietnamese restaurant, has taken its place. Keep in mind, this restaurant is not the same as Kim’s Noodle Bar & Grill that’s further east on Harry Street.

1675 S. Rock Road, Wichita, KS 67207

Open Daily: 11am – 8:30pm

Cash/Card Accepted

The menu at Pho Kim features many popular Vietnamese dishes such as pho, Bánh mi, bun, rice dishes and noodle dishes along with boba, tea and coffee.

Once you’re done eating, there’s also a jewelry case with rings, necklaces, and bracelets for sale if you’re feeling the need to reward yourself after a happy plate…or bowl.

My visit to Pho Kim began with a couple of spring rolls. These came out seconds after ordering, and were pretty good. The spring rolls were stuffed and there was a nice amount of shrimp and pork in each one. Just a simple appetizer to start my day.

For lunch, I went with a large bowl of pho with rare steak, brisket, tendon, and meatball. When my bowl arrived, I started with the broth and couldn’t stop. It was warm, hearty, and fairly rich in flavor. I’d probably put in in my top five broths at the moment. It was great and didn’t need much doctoring in the way of sriracha or hoisin sauce. I could have had the bowl as is without adding anything and been fine.

Pho Kim was also generous with the amount of noodles and meat in the bowl. Between this and the spring rolls, I did not leave hungry.

I didn’t require any water refills, and my server only came out to take my order and deliver my food. So service-wise I’d say not applicable since I didn’t require any attention. As for the food, I was delighted with what I received. It was certainly better than the last time I stepped in the building when it was Pho MC.

Chalk Pho Kim up as a nice Vietnamese option for southeast Wichita.

  1. I haven’t been to a Wichita Vietnamese restaurant in about 10 years so are the menu prices pretty standard across the whole city? Looks like $15 an entree on average.
