Checking out the cafeteria at Wichita City Hall

Wichita City Hall Cafeteria

Wichita City Hall

Here at Wichita By E.B., we leave no rock unturned when it comes to food.  Whether you’re attending a City Hall meeting, paying parking tickets, getting a garage sale permit, visiting the probation office, or meeting with city staff about influencer content, you may get hungry.

What some people don’t know is there is a cafeteria located on the 2nd floor of Wichita City Hall. I made it a point to check it out immediately when I heard about this amenity.

As I was going through security, the guard at the front asked the reason for my visit. I mentioned the cafeteria, and he wasn’t even aware of one, so I’d like to dedicate this blog to the guard along with anybody searching for the next place to eat in town.

Open over lunchtime during the week starting at 11 a.m., the cafeteria is a space that features cold items such as sandwiches and salads, microwavable items (yes, a microwave is available), and snacks. At least two days a week (generally Tuesday and Thursday), Molino’s Cuisine is in the cafeteria serving some of their popular Mexican dishes.

I didn’t get there in time for Molino’s, so I went through the buffet like line of items in the refrigerated section.

There was so much to choose from. They had sandwiches, salads, shelves and shelves of drink options, pickles, burritos, and even FREE condiments like mayo, ketchup, and mustard.

The snack aisle was a who’s who of chips and candy. They even carried Advil. I made sure to pick some up to have on hand when I read the comments of this blog which was created in partnership with the City of Wichita.

There was a self-check out area. All my years of doing it at Dillons prepared me for this moment. After ringing up eight items, my total came out to roughly $32. Here’s an added benefit, I didn’t have to worry about tipping either!

The use of a self-check was a lovely addition to the cafeteria and helped cut down the use of any employees. It was a wonderful way to save on the usage of our tax dollars.

And if you choose to dine in the cafeteria, there are plenty of tables and chairs to go around. I may consider having my next Wichita By E.B. Dinner Series there, but Molino’s would have to be involved.

I tried everything I purchased, and my only criticism was the pre-packaged hard-boiled eggs. After a couple of bites, I couldn’t finish it. There was some odd lingering smell.

It’s just another amenity the City of Wichita has to offer anybody visiting City Hall.

Thanks for reading. And lastly, this video was created in partnership with the City of Wichita.

Now to pop some Advil for the upcoming online induced headache.

Happy Dining,
