Firebirds Wood Fired Grill Revisited

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill

We had a birthday in the house and to celebrate and per the request of the guest of honor, we made our way over to Firebirds Wood Fired Grill.

It’s been a while since I had dinner there. The last couple of times I’ve stopped by, it’s only been for drinks. So this was a nice change of pace to sit down and have a relaxing dinner among family.

Of course, our meal had to start with the Double Black Diamond martini which was made with fresh pineapple, pineapple vodka and pineapple garnish. This thing is refreshing and slightly dangerous because it’s soooo good.

From there, everyone ordered appetizers. We had the lobster spinach queso, bacon deviled eggs, and onion rings.

I stuck with the deviled eggs, and I’m telling y’all. They were heavenly. When it comes to deviled eggs in a restaurant, Firebirds has been my favorite around town. I’ve had them at a handful of restaurants and have yet to find someone’s who are better.

For dinner, my daughter had the mac & cheese with sides of fruit and french fries. The picture does not do the size of the meal justice. Easily the biggest kids meal portion size of mac & cheese I’ve come across… granted it was also $10 so that’s something to consider.

While it was nice to see a big portion, this was also too much food for a 4-year-old. I would have gladly paid 30-50% less if they offered the same meal at half the size.

For my entrée, I went with the 12oz ribeye rare. Everything leading up to this point was phenomenal, and it really ended on a dud with my steak. I received a fairly fatty piece and the non-fatty portions were a bit tough and a little on the bland side. It’s been YEAAARRRS since I last had a steak from Firebirds so am unsure what the public opinion is of the steaks there. But for what it’s worth, some other members of my family weren’t entirely too impressed with their steaks either. If I’m being blunt, it was honestly one of the worst steaks I’ve had in some time and very disappointing. And that sucks because everything before that was worthy of a repeat visit.

Getting back on the positive side, the service at Firebirds was top-notch that evening. Our server was very attentive and took care of every request. Sometimes large parties can be difficult to serve (especially with kids) and she did a fantastic job.

Here’s their menu:

Happy Dining,
Eddy

  1. This place is a 3 time loser. Been here three times and it was terrible each time. Won’t go back after the last. The first two tines, the food was just underwhelming for the price. But the third time, they gave me a well done steak when I ordered med rare. Instead of trying to fix it by bringing a new steak, I was sent to the back of the line. 50 minutes to get my replacement. My family ate and finished dessert before I got my replacement. No apologies. No manager. 0 stars
