First Look at Quick Pick: food and games of skill

Quick Pick

While driving down East 21st Street, near Grove, I saw a place called Quick Pick. It’s not a place I’ve seen covered by local media, food bloggers or content creators so I decided to pop in and see what its all about.

What caught my eye was a food menu posted on the north side of the building.

I thought to myself, “Oh they serve food, I’ll drop in.”

As I was walking up to the front, I saw a big letters above the door that said “SKILL GAMES”. I knew this could only mean one thing!

There were multiple machines inside that offered games of skills when you could put money in the machines and when money back.

I saw familiar games like Mo Mo Mo Mummy but the grand prize was only around $700, so I opted not to place any money down on the games. Plus I saw ultimately there for food.

The menu at Quick Pick featured wings, loaded fries, burgers, chicken strips and more.

I decided to go for the 10 piece bone-in wings with Asian zing and a buffalo lemon pepper sauce. Then some rib tip loaded fries, and a peach cobbler.

There were some positives and negatives to take away from my visit to Quick Pick.

The wings were pretty dinky but I really enjoyed both sauces and rubs I got. The Asian Zing packed a long of flavor and minor bit of heat while the BBQ lemon piper was quite zesty with a sharp bite at the end. While I would have liked a meatier wing, I was still happy with them.

The rib tip loaded fries wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I thought there would be rib tips on top of loaded fries that had cheese, bacon, whatever. This was simply just rib tips and fries. The ribs were pretty tender but dry and the fries were quite underwhelming.

As for the peach cobbler, its probably something I wouldn’t order again in the future. It had this odd vegetable oil flavor that hit my taste buds immediately. That caught me by surprise and I couldn’t take another bite.

Aside from the wings, I was underwhelmed with most of what I ordered.

But Quick Pick could also be a place where the big draw is more so the games of skill than the food.

If you’re into the games, I saw a sign that said there’s Match Play from 1am to 2am, 8pm to 10pm and 2pm to 4pm followed by $10 for 10.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
