On Monday – Saturday from 11 am – 2 pm is a long time Wichita favorite. Those of you who have lived in the city for many many years probably call this place B&C Creations and that’s probably ok as most people will know what you’re talking about. Even if you Google “B&C Creations BBQ”, the right result will come up. That right result is now called B&C Barbeque and has been for sometime.
B&C Barbeque is located at 355 N Washington St which is right near the southwest corner of Washington and 3rd Street.
It’s is a buffet style BBQ with such options as ribs, hot links, turkey, pulled pork, brisket, pork loin, chicken, ham, spicy baked beans, salad, and so much more. You can get all of this for $13.50 which includes tax and a drink.
If it’s been years since you’ve been you’ll notice a change, B&C Barbecue is more spread out. No longer are there antiques and paintings on shelves and on the wall for sell. It’s all tables and chairs now. It’s much more spacious; I’m a big fan of the change.
Some of my co-workers and I have formed this group called the “Diver’s Club” to randomly try restaurants we’ve never been to around town. A couple of the guys in our group have never been to B&C so that was our stop recently.
When the four of us arrived, we paid at the checkout counter, found a table and proceeded to the buffet line.
There were so many good options to choose from. Before I go any further, I want to apologize to the two men behind me who were impatiently getting annoyed I was taking an extra five seconds per section to take a picture.
Everybody in our group got a little bit of everything and this was our first round:
The first thing everybody tried at the same time, not on purpose, was the sides. Only one side stuck out as a true favorite and those were the spicy baked beans. They were out of this world silly good. When I say they were spicy, I 100% mean it. One guy couldn’t go back for a second round because they were too spicy. Another had to mix them with the regular beans and then a third and I couldn’t stop eating them. It’s the good type of spicy that has a lot of flavor. If you love spicy and you love beans, you’ll love these here at B&C. With the amount of beans everybody was eating, I was dreading the drive back to the office; the windows would certainly be rolled down!
As for the meats, I favorite of all the options were the pork loins; so tender and flavorful. It’s seriously a thing of beauty that I highly recommend to anybody going in.
Those comments were pretty common by everybody else on their favorite meat options. The brisket, pulled pork, and hot links were all commented on as very good from the buffet line especially the pulled pork. That was a favorite by two of the guys in the group. All the food had a very good smokey taste and wasn’t over-seasoned or too salty. If you’re wondering, all the food there is smoked on site and is fresh. The staff working behind the buffet line does an incredible job back there and should be commended on their hard work to keep everything going for the amount of customers walking through those doors.
Everyone went back for a second round and everyone had the look of death upon completing their second plate. One of my co-workers was fearing having “meat headaches” once he got back to work and that was understandable.
The staff there was all friendly, the place was incredibly clean inside, and the food was absolutely delicious; a thumbs up from the four of us who all went.
At $13.50 it’s a very good value and gives you the opportunity to try so many different kinds of meats. By comparison if you went to other BBQ restaurants in town and ordered a 2-meat option without a drink, it’s anywhere from $9.95-$12.95. If you ordered a 3-meat option it’s $11.25-$13.99. Those prices may not include ribs either. So it’s a very fair and competitive price.
Overall everybody enjoyed their lunch and I could see why the guys behind me in line were getting upset, having to wait 5 more seconds for those spicy beans and pork loins would annoy me as well.
………..and don’t forget when you go:
Happy Dining,
Eddy
