We’ve been out to Paula’s Bar & Grill plenty of times for drinks but never food. At the recommendation of some readers, I wanted to go out and try their chicken fried stick which I was told was the best in town. That’s high praise to give and I was intent to see if what I was told was true.

When I arrived, I immediately took a seat at the bar and placed my order. Within minutes, a house salad was brought out. There wasn’t anything special here, it was your typical house salad found at nearly any bar.
Next thing I know, my main course was delivered.
For starters, the gravy was a little on the flavorless side. It was nice and creamy but definitely needed some more pepper. Moving past the gravy the rest of it wasn’t getting better. My chicken fried steak was very tough and chewy. After getting through half of it, I decided to give up and just ask for my ticket and call it a loss.
Perhaps other items on the menu are better but for my next visit, I may just stick with the drinks. Since the service was great, I’d be very open to returning though.
Here’s their menu:
