You may have heard by now that Jacks North Hi Carryout has re-opened once again with new owners. Yes, new owners. I get the feeling owning Jack’s North Hi Carryout is like going to North High. Own it for four years, graduate and move on to next person. A local family recently took over and made some changes to hope and bring back the original magic for a restaurant that has been around for close to 70 years.

The inside hasn’t changed much from the previous owner. The same amount of seating and decor can be found at the restaurant.
Gone are the sliders from the previous owners and back at the regular-size burgers many fans of Jacks first came to know. During their first week of being open, they are offering a $5 combo that includes a burger, fries and a drink. This is only available until Saturday. I decided to go ahead and give that a try.
There’s no denying that the burger was greasy. It was a messy eat with juices raining down on to the paper. Let’s face it, burgers for the most part aren’t healthy. So while the burger was extremely greasy, I have to admit, it was pretty good. Juicy, filling, well-cooked; it had most of the basic qualities I enjoyed. The fries could have used a little more time in the fryer though.
It was a quick, brief stop and one I intend to make a return to. It’s too early to tell what the future holds for them. They literally just opened on Monday so a full review will be in store once they get situated. Right now, they just have a paired down menu but will expand it once they get things going. Here’s the menu they had out by the front door. The owners did say they’ll have breakfast sandwiches and croissants available in the morning since they open at 7am.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
