It’s a stop I make every now and then for lunch. Whenever I’m in the mood for a sandwich one of the places I visit is Bocco Deli. They are in my unreleased list of Top 50 restaurants in Wichita. They specialize in soups, salads and sandwiches that are made from scratch.

On my most recent visit up there, I tried their special of the day: The Maestro. It included ham, sweet pepper bacon, pepper jack, Parmesan, pepperoncini, roasted red peppers, spinach and roasted red sauce on their focoaccia bread made daily.
But before that I started off with their potato leek soup. It came with sweet pepper bacon which gave it a nice bit of texture. The soup was very flavorful and served it’s purpose on a beautiful fall day.
But the real winner was the Maestro. I’m a guy who is a big fan of a little bit of heat and this sandwich definitely brought it. Between the roasted red peppers, the red sauce, pepperoncini, it was just amazing. I took my sweet ass time eating too to savor every bite. One of my big issues with some sandwiches around town is just how stiff everything feels from a texture standpoint; not the case here. The bread was lighter than it looked and even tastier than I imagined. Using fresh is always tough to use to describe food to a reader but i’m breaking that rule because Bocco Deli did a great job in delivering on that. The pasta salad was olive-free which was a huge selling point for me. Overall just a fantastic sandwich and one I’d order again in a heartbeat.
On top of all that, the service was quick and is always friendly. And all of that is why Bocco Deli is one of my favorite little places in town.
Here’s the menu.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
