A new shaved ice stand recently opened in Wichita at 3151 N Rock Road called Chill Goat Shaved Ice. They originally started in Newton and while I was there, I figured since I was there it’d be a great time to check it out and see what’s potentially in store for Wichita shaved ice fans as well.

The shaved ice stand was set up at 815 N Main Street. You couldn’t miss the goat cut out standing on top of the mobile trailer.
There were roughly 60 different creations available on the menu. For the low price of 50 cents, you could add in sour spray, candy, a scoop of ice cream, and cream. The scoop of ice cream was a no-brainer for me.
There were four different sizes with prices ranging between $2 and $5.
I opted for “Brown Cow” which included root beer and cream. The soft shaved ice sat on a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
It. Was. Awesome. Granted the 90+ degree weather and humidity enhanced my desire for a cold treat. The Brown Cow was like a root beer cream soda/root beer float. It was the perfect thing I needed at the perfect time.
Let’s be honest, when it comes to shaved ice everything comes down to the quality of the ice. It’s either soft and smooth or it’s rock hard ice. Every shaved ice stand has a multitude of flavors to choose from. As long as the ice is good, everything is a win.
I look forward to taking the kids to the Wichita Chilly Goat Shaved Ice location soon as I’m sure they’ll enjoy it.
