The Strawberry Crunch Cake from Simply Sunday Cakes and Crafts

It was my niece’s 10th birthday. While looking for a birthday gift, I figured why not treat her to something special in the world of food along with something from her wishlist. She’s been with me on plenty of food ventures and thought she deserved one of the most delicious treats that I’ve been craving for some time.

Insert Simply Sunday Cakes. They are a home-based bakery out of Andale, KS. We had them do my daughter’s one-year birthday cake and Lindsay Houser, the owner, did a bang up job. She’s been advertising a strawberry crunch cakes for some time now. This was the perfect time to place an order for one. I sent a message through her Facebook page and set up a time. It was $40 and I picked it up on Saturday morning.

When I opened up the box at the birthday party, the cake was met with lots of oohs and aahs.

My niece described it like a big strawberry shortcake with cheesecake inside. I have no idea what the crunch stuff was on the outside but I’m pretty sure it was a drug of some sort because I kept going back for more. I didn’t even realize there was cheesecake in the middle until cutting it which was one of the best surprises ever. It was a huge hit at the party and probably one of the best cakes I’ve ever had.

I’m currently looking through my calendar to see which birthday is next so I have a reason to buy another cake, not that I really need one.

Once again Simply Sunday Cakes was a breeze to deal with. Last time, they did delivery. I’ve seen that they are also at Farmers Markets but this time I chose pickup because I wanted to visit Andale.

And to the person who turned Simply Sunday Cakes for not being compliant with a commercial kitchen, they are completely legal and approved by the Kansas Department of Agriculture. They have commercial refrigeration for all these delicious cakes.
