I believe the west side location is the only one with a daily BBQ buffet. With COVID-19 taking place, it’s a different style of buffet than what most people are probably accustomed to.
Upon arriving, I was given a sheet with their meat and side options. I checked off up to three meats I wanted along with three sides. After that, you could then select additional meats and sides if you finished your current plate.
I went with burnt ends, ribs and hot links. The burnt ends were more fatty than I’ve had around town, it was definitely missing some of that delicious bark. The ribs weren’t all that meaty and dried out. The hot links were probably the best part but felt slightly undercooked.
To be completely honest, I wasn’t all that impressed with anything I had.
I also had a side salad which was very basic.
My three sides were jambalaya which was overly tomato-y, the mac & cheese along with the green beans were decent and worthwhile sides.
After diving into the meats and sides, I sort of lost my appetite to order more. For what I had, I didn’t see much of a light at the end of the tunnel, so I asked for my ticket.
My server who did an amazing job all lunch, brought me out some apple cobbler which was very delicious. It was the bright spot of everything I had unfortunately it wasn’t the reason for me coming.
There’s definitely better BBQ to be had around Wichita.
