While looking for dinner, one of the kids suggested La Hacienda Tacos & Tequila. She went with friends once and enjoyed it, so we thought we would all go to get a review. We’ve been to their Derby location, but they also have a location in Wichita which was the one we opted to visit.

We pigged out before our meals. We had complimentary chips and salsa which were fairly standard salsa. Then we had some queso and some guacamole that was made at our table. The kids loved the queso and I was a huge fan of the guacamole. It was so fresh and vibrant. The splash of lime juice really stuck out and gave it some pop.
We ordered a bit of everything for dinner.
I went with the fried mojarra. It was a deep-fried whole tilapia, served with rice, lettuce, avocado slices and pico de gallo sauce. While tons of bones were inside as expected, it was delicious. I highly enjoyed eating every bite while everybody gave me this “what the hell are you eating” look.
Everybody else went with a kids enchilada meal, tacos and another dish where the name escapes me. Everyone had a great time and had no complaints with their food. It was a good mix of some traditional Mexican dishes and Tex-Mex so everyone found something they liked.
Probably the favorite part of my meal though was the top shelf margarita. It’s not something I often order but was talked into it. Now I feel like I should start venturing out more for margaritas.
We ended our dinner with some churros with ice cream. Sugar, cinnamon, ice cream? You can’t go wrong with that.
As stated earlier, the menu had a nice mix of different Mexican dishes that fit multiple tastes. It was a nice little visit that was matched with some great service.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
