One morning, I had to be in Andover for an appointment. I thought that’d be a great time to grab some breakfast. In browsing through the restaurants on the Wichita Food & Booze Directory, it looked like the breakfast options were few and far between. Since I was on Andover Road, the closest one by me was The Rusted Rooster.

Upon walking in, I was hit with the aroma of pumpkins. If you’ve been reading this blog over the years, you’ll know I’m a pumpkin addict. There was a sign displaying October drink and food specials which immediately caught my eye.
The words pumpkin waffle had me standing there like a deer in the headlights, so I ordered that along with the salted caramel pumpkin latte.
Not sure if that was enough to eat and drink, I ordered a hot tea and the bravacado which was fried egg, crispy bacon, tomato, and avocado on sourdough, toasted crispy on the panini.
The drinks were fantastic but……
…. the waffle was a thing of pure beauty. Due to my schedule, I had to take it to go which took away from some of the crispiness but it was still amazing. If you love pumpkins, this is the waffle for you. It had a vibrant pumpkin flavor. The caramel drizzle and candied pecans gave it a richness that nearly put me to sleep. It was like a holiday comfort food perfect for a Fall morning.
In the department of I ate too much food, the bravacado was probably too much on top of the waffle. But it was a small simple, yet effective breakfast sandwich. While the waffle was a heavy item, this was much lighter. I loved the mixture of avacado and bacon….. I mean who doesn’t love both of those fixtures?
All in all, it was a great little breakfast in Andover.
