FOUNDED
It was started 2010 as Sweetly Scrumptious. Marilyn Ramsey came onboard in mid-2018 and, seeing great opportunities ahead of us, acquired the whole thing in 2019. At that time we decided to re-brand and changed it to River City Sweet Shop to give it a fresh new start that we felt was more in line with what we were trying to do.

ABOUT THE OWNERS
Marilyn Ramsey got bit by the entrepreneurship bug when working for her husband’s business and watching how he operated. In 2018 the opportunity for her to have some ownership of her own presented itself, and she took the chance to leap and prove herself. Marilyn is a mother of 4 children, a step-child, grandmother to 8 grandkids and step-grandkids, and 2 little fur-babies.

Bill Ramsey is a serial entrepreneur, known as “The Bill Guy” and is also partners in the local uBreakiFix stores and Soteria Technology Solutions. Bill is also the Kansas 2011 Small Business Person of the Year. Bill just does what Marilyn says and doesn’t argue. It is safer that way.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS
Our mission is “To Provide a Sweet Experience for Every Customer” and that’s what we aim to do! We not only want you to have the sweets you crave, but an incredible and memorable experience as well. From cakes, cupcakes, business logo cookies, sugar cookies, doubletree cookies (and any other cookie you can think of!), cake balls, cream puffs, cinnamon rolls, cannoli’s, cookie kits, mini-doughnuts, brownie bites… we try to hit every sweet you desire! If you don’t see it, let us know… we can probably make it. 🙂 We are also starting to introduce other line items. We are now making French macarons & chocolate bombs.

WHY WE TOOK OVER THE BUSINESS
The previous owner was looking for a partner that was willing to take the business to the next level. Once we got into it, we simply decided we loved it so much that we had to do it on our own! So we made the deal and pushed forward.

MOST POPULAR ITEM
I have to honestly say that our sugar cookies are the most popular with our cupcakes a second favorite. We serve Jumbo cupcakes and each our filled with something delicious and topped with buttercream icing! We are now making royal iced cookies and they are a huge hit!
