When the discussion of best pizza comes up, many of the usual suspects are brought up like Knolla’s, Ziggy’s, WBC, etc. One restaurant that is certainly deserving has been operating out of Derby, KS for over 50 years. It’s time to talk (once again) about Pizza John’s.

When you have made it half a century long, you’re doing something right. The Derby pizza joint has quite a loyal following.
Some people may consider Derby quite the drive, but I find it to be worthy.
And if you are able to make it out there, there one pizza I always have to get: the supreme.
On my last carryout from there, the super thin crust was excellent. It had a nice crisp despite how thin it was. The pizza maintained its consistency even lasting the drive back from Derby; zero sogginess. There were also plenty of chopped up toppings to go around. The ingredients on it were fresh with the sauce adding a real unique vibrant flavor to it that stuck out. It wasn’t so heavy on the pizza. But to really elevate the pizza to a higher level was the seasoning sprinkled over the top of each slice. It’s like a lemon pepper that brings some zest to each bite.
For me, Pizza John’s is easily the best pizza in Derby. If you start talking about best pizza in the Wichita area, than Pizza John’s is definitely worthy of consideration. Add in the extremely considerate staff there and you have yourselves a winner of a dining option.
