For those interested in cheap deals and specials around town, I swung by O’Malley’s Irish Pub to check out their $5 steak night special.
2405 W 31st St., Wichita, KS 67217
Open Monday – Saturday: 2pm – 2am
Sunday: 11am – 2am
If you’ve never been, O’Malley’s is a place with great specials. I find them to be highly underrated when it comes to bar food. They put out some good stuff like wings and Irish pizza. I haven’t been by for their steak night before, so this was a first-time experience for me.
The steak night special consisted of a 10 ounce sirloin (or a country fried steak). Sides were a la carte for $1.50. You could choose between a salad, baked potato, french fries, tater tots, mashed potatoes & white gravy.
As you could imagine, the place was packed. Nearly every parking spot was taken. A rent-a-cop even sat next door at the bank to let people know they couldn’t use the parking lot for O’Malley’s.
I went with a steak cooked medium rare with a baked potato. The end of the steak was overcooked but the rest of it was fine. Hopefully, nobody is going in wanting a top of the line steak because that’s not what you’re going to get. What I received was a meal that was satisfying for what I spent. As far as $5 steaks went, this probably achieved its original intention. Pack the place, get people to purchase drinks and offer an affordable meal that most people would probably enjoy.
Remember, the steak night is only available on Wednesday nights from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for dine-in. Adults only. This isn’t for carryout or delivery.
