For Mother’s Day, I thought about baking something myself but I didn’t want to put the fate of a Mother’s Day dessert on me. Instead, I contacted Simply Sunday Cakes because I knew they wouldn’t fail me.
They are a licensed home-based bakery out of Andale, KS. I had them do my daughter’s one-year birthday cake and owner Lindsay Houser did an outstanding job. We’ve ordered their strawberry crunch cake in the past and loved every bite of it. The last time we had it, we had to share it with a ton of family. There was no sharing this time. It was just for the two of us. I sent a message through their Facebook page and set up a time. It was $40 and I picked it up on Saturday morning.
The cake looked like it was taller than the Empire State Building; it measured close to 10 feet tall (slight exaggeration).
It’s probably best described as a strawberry shortcake with cheesecake inside. One slice is the equivalent of three slices.
We are big suckers for strawberry crunch anything and this might be one of the best cakes out there in the entire state. It’s about an hour drive to go pick it up and come back; an hour drive that I’d do any time.
If you’d like to see more, check out Simply Sunday Cakes on Facebook.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
