ABOUT THE OWNERS
Mai was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the US with her parents when she was 7. Her father was a prisoner of war for being a high ranking officer for the Non-communist party. They settled in Dodge City, because they had family who lived there. She graduated high school in Dodge City. Then moved to Wichita to complete her undergrad degree in Dental Hygiene at WSU. She worked in the field right after graduating and up until middle of June, 2020.
ABOUT THE BUSINESS
We serve Vietnamese food primarily. We have Vietnamese eggrolls, crab Rangoon, fried chicken wings, fried shrimp, Vietnamese spring rolls, and an eggroll bowl. We have a small space, therefore we can only allow takeout for now.
WHY WE STARTED THE BUSINESS
It essentially started in April 2020 from our house. We were unemployed and had to closed down our other business temporarily due to Covid restrictions. So we thought it would be a good idea to sell my wife’s eggrolls from our house. We didn’t know the rules and regulations of selling food from home. But we read somewhere online there was a ‘cottage law,’ which said you could sell to family and friends. However, this website wasn’t credible obviously, because the KDA showed up at our house and said we couldn’t operate a food business from home without a separate kitchen. After shutting down operations, my wife, Mai was so inspired by all the support from the community, that she wanted to pursue it further. Therefore, we set out to find a space, and a friend of ours’ sent us a link to the perfect one. Once we got everything remodeled, it was ready to open in the beginning of June, 2020.
This is an older menu. Grandma Thuy’s often has different specials and entrees available.
