It seems like every corner of Wichita has its own shaved ice stand. The southeast part of town was missing one, but the answer finally arrived. Funky Monkeys Shaved Ice South recently opened. They are no strangers to the shaved ice game. Their original location sits at K-96 and Woodlawn right by Home Depot. They also had a shaved ice business downtown that included alcohol that closed a couple of years back.

This new location is located on Rock Road between Harry and Pawnee. They have a quaint little built in patio with seating available.
There’s a walk-up window or a drive-thru at the east end of the storage container turned shaved ice business.
If you’re looking for a suggestion when you go, I went with the root beer with a scoop of ice cream and a cream topping.
It was the perfect cool treat I was looking for on this 90-degree week. The shaved ice had a softer texture, the cream topping added a sweetness I didn’t know I needed but deserved. And the ice cream….. ice cream makes everything better.
If you live in that area of town, it’s a great option for shaved ice that is open every day of the week. Check them out.
