First Look at Mr. Lion Tea + Yokohama Ramen Joint

Mr. Lion Tea

You can give credit to Yokohama Ramen Joint for popularizing ramen in Wichita. While there are other restaurants that had it on the menu, they were the ones who took the city by storm with the Japanese noodle soup dish. Since opening in 2016, they’ve opened a second location at Central and Woodlawn and have rebranded their original Delano location at 613 W. Douglas.

The flagship restaurant closed this summer for a remodel and rebranding. All that’s now over as they officially opened to the public to include a sister store called Mr. Lion Tea inside the restaurant. Along with their popular ramen dishes, their new concept added 14 different flavors of boba tea.

Inside, they’ve cut their seating in half to put more focus on their carryout business which picked up over the past year. There was now roughly enough seating for 14 people inside as they had to make room for their boba bar.

A fun mural also covered the east side wall.

I dropped in over lunch to check out the new Mr. Lion Tea concept and had their Mr. Lion Signature Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Boba and the Mr. Lion Fruit Tea (mango + peach + lemonade + jasmine green tea). Both were phenomenal, but the Signature Milk Tea was beyond that. I loved the brown sugar flavor which reminded me of the popular brown sugar ice cream bars. The fruit tea had a very refreshing fruity taste to it.

Of course, I couldn’t leave without eating lunch, so I had the spicy garlic miso ramen (which is my favorite item there) and some gyoza. You can’t go wrong with either. The ramen was just the right amount of spicy in the miso soup. It’s a hit every time I try it.

This should be a big win for the Delano area with the addition of the boba teas. Yokohama Ramen Joint was popular as is, but this should take it to a new level.

If all goes to plan, their east side location will be adding Mr. Lion Boba Tea as well.

Here’s their boba and beverages menu:

Happy Dining,
Eddy
