The Neighborhood checks out The Kitchen’s new fall specials

Visits The Kitchen for their new fall specials

The Kitchen

Our collaboration of local influencers, foodies, bloggers and vloggers, The Neighborhood, met up once again. This time we made our way out to 725 E. Douglas to check out the new fall specials available at The Kitchen. If you’ve never heard of them before, they offer clean comfort food served with a side of Wichita hospitality in a casual, bistro-inspired space. They are located right at Union Station.

The Food

The Kitchen’s fall specials boasts four different dishes and two drinks. In true blogging form, we tried all of them. Let’s take a closer look at the dishes:

Fall Salad – $7 – Fresh greens, crisp apple slices, red onion, Gorgonzola cheese with a cider honey vinaigrette.

Hunter Schnitzel – $14 – Crispy pork fritter smothered in a traditional Hunter gravy (mushroom gravy) served with crispy fries.

Mac & Beer Cheese – $11 – Classic comfort food but enhanced with craft beer.

Chicken Pesto Sandwich – $12 – Last bites of summer – grilled chicken, pesto, mozzarella, tomato, and lettuce on a toasted roll. Served with chips.

Cranberry Bourbon Punch with Jim Beam Bourbon – $6.50
Fire Cider with Fireball – $6

Our Thoughts

What a meal! I’m the type of guy who loves ordering a spread of different food, but I also have a problem of being unable to finish all of it by myself. So, being able to dine out with others and try parts of different dishes is the best way to visit a restaurant.

Of all four dishes, my favorite was the Hunter Schnitzel. The Kitchen’s Hunter Gravy was possibly the most magical gravy I’ve ever had in town. It was rich and flavorful with a bit of a thicker texture which was perfect for dipping my fries into. There aren’t many places to get pork schnitzel and if I’m speaking candidly, which I should be doing anyway, theirs I’d put as the best in Wichita. What’s underrated as well is the fries. Their crispy and well-seasoned. I couldn’t get enough of the Hunter Schnitzel dish and would have eaten it all by myself and ordered a second plate of it if the others weren’t with me. The Mac & Beer Cheese with a brat is something not to overlook either.

I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the dishes. The Kitchen has never failed me before.

What did The Neighborhood have to say?
