Purchasing the heaviest breakfast burrito at La Zacatecana Mexican Fast Food

Last year, a new Mexican restaurant opened in the former Los Mexican Burritos #2 space at 1710 S. West Street. It’s an area of town that doesn’t have a lot to offer in terms of dining. But with many businesses on West Street, those employees may want to eat out every now and then. That’s where La Zacatecana Mexican Fast Food comes into play. They are a quick-service Mexican restaurant complete with a drive-thru that’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I’ve been to La Zacatecana Mexican Fast Food before for lunch. Some people though, have been telling me about their breakfast burritos, so I decided to stop by to give it a try. There were nine different ones on the menu to choose from. I went with the steak burrito.

The next sentence either shows how weak and out of shape I am or how big the burrito truly was. When I was handed my breakfast in the drive-thru, my arm dropped just a bit while grabbing the bag. I was taken aback by how heavy it was. For a second there, I could have sworn La Zacatecana put a dumbbell in the bag.

This is what $7 got me…. a big burrito and a sore forearm.

The burrito was similar to what people find at many Mexican restaurants around town; a huge, affordable meal that could probably feed two people. There was so much steak inside it. Somehow, someway, I managed to finish it and didn’t even bother with lunch that day. It was a heavy, but delicious meal. One of my favorite parts was that the steak was tender, the eggs weren’t dried out and there was a good balance inside.

I get that breakfast burritos and Mexican restaurants are like a dime a dozen in Wichita. BUT…. if you want a workout with your meal or you’re looking to get your money’s worth, definitely give La Zacatecana Mexican Fast Food a try. They are a bit out of the way for some people, but worth it.
