I’ve been all over town checking out all the newness in the mobile food community. You know, the food trucks and one you’ll find parked occasionally in southwest Wichita is Chaooo Beef Jerky who sells….you guessed it, beef jerky along with other Cholito candy.
Often times, I have seen Chaooo’s mobile trailer parked at Westway Marketplace at Pawnee and Seneca.
Chaooo Beef Jerky specializes in Carne seca which is Spanish for “dried meat”. It’s a type of jerky found in southwest American as well as northern portions of Mexico. This style of jerky is known for its spices and uniquely dried texture.
They have many flavors and my go to is usually their spicy and spicy lemon pepper. Big bags are $20 while small bags are $10.
I loved the seasoning on both the lemon pepper and the spicy. Those of you who love heat, would enjoy Chaooo’s spicy beef jerky. It definitely packs a punch and continues to grow with each piece you eat. Their lemon pepper had a beef lemon kick with an aftertaste of Worcestershire. While I like the spicy version of the lemon pepper, the non-spicy version is great for my family who doesn’t have a high tolerance for heat.
Either way, it’s some of my favorite beef jerky around town.
If you’re too busy to pick some of their jerky at the trailer, you can also find it at such stores as El Rio Bravo and La Tapatia or online through their website, www.ChaoooBeefJerky.com.
Here’s the menu.
