Let’s Review the Firehouse Subs on Ridge Road!

Firehouse Subs

Let’s review Firehouse Subs!

Firehouse Subs is a fast casual chain based out of Jacksonville, FL that specializes in subs. They originally started in Jacksonville in 1994 and quickly expanded to over 1,100 locations nationwide. There are four locations in Wichita and for the purposes of this review, we stopped by their Kellogg and Ridge Road location. The other three are at New Market, Kellogg & Rock, and north Greenwich Road.

On my visit, I went with a large New York Steamer. It included a generous helping of corned beef, pastrami, provolone, mayo, deli mustard and Italian dressing. It was $13.19 for the large.

The sub was delicious and easily filling. The New York Steamer has always been my favorite at Firehouse Subs. What I like about my visits is that it’s always convenient. The sub was warm, the bread was soft and fresh, and the pickle was pretty darn good too.

I wanted to write this blog not so much about the food, but the service. My sub came out in a timely manner. I took it to a corner of the restaurant and just observed the staff. They greeted every single customer who walked in, they were quick to clean tables off, and engaged with anybody who had questions or needed help. One staff member went around offering kids treats. It was really cool to see. It was as if the Firehouse Subs was a small town locally owned restaurant. The vibe, while fast casual, had the service of a mom and pop. That’s rare these days.

Big kudos to the entire staff on Ridge Road.
