The original owner of Metro Grill has returned and with that has brought back a revival of the popular sandwich shop to downtown Wichita.
Metro Grill is located inside the Wichita Cheesecake Company space at 801 E. Douglas. It’s a way to draw in more customers to the dessert eatery and help bring Metro Grill back.

The restaurant is currently open under a soft opening pretense with a limited menu. When I dropped by, they didn’t have a physical menu available.
There were three sandwiches available: a Cuban, the Infamous BOB and a Veggie Sandwich. I went with the Cuban and Infamous BOB, but can’t tell you how much each sandwich was. For reference, my ticket was $31.07 after tax.
For dine-in, I had the Cuban done spicy. This was certainly one of the better Cubans I’ve had around town. There was a nice blend of roasted pork, cheese, pickles, mustard, ham, and some peppers to give it some kick. The bread was nicely grilled to give it some texture and all in all, this was a sandwich I scarfed down fairly quickly. I’m not a quick eater, but couldn’t help myself with this one.
It was great to see Metro Grill back in Wichita. Over time, they will be expanding their menu to include more items.
Until then, I have the Infamous MOB to devour after I publish this blog.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
