Revisiting the vegan comfort food from Shea’s Sol Kitchen

I decided to drop by Towne West Square to revisit Shea’s Sol Kitchen. The first time I visited by the restaurant, they had a soft opening and didn’t have the entire menu available. So, this revisit gave me an opportunity to see what they could do without limitations.

If you’ve never heard of Shea’s Sol Kitchen, they specialize in vegan comfort food. I’m not a vegan, but I’ve made it clear I’ll always try any type of food. It’s good to stay open to all foods, as you never know what you may find.

That was the case here at the restaurant that served vegan dishes like burgers, nachos, chicken tenders and other comfort foods.

An item that caught my eye was the Sol Bowl which was their cheesy mack topped with crispy tenders, and topped with a sauce of your choice and garnished with house ranch and green onion. I went with that and had it topped with the sweet fiya sauce because I liked the name and it was recommended to me.

Vegan or not, this dish was outstanding. The tenders were crispy as advertised and the noodles were perfection; firm to the bite and not limp or soft. The sweet fiya sauce offered a sweet heat to the dish that significantly enhanced the whole meal. The tenders were easy to bite into and provided additional substance to the meal to really fill you up if the noodles didn’t. It was one of those dishes that I think any type of eater would enjoy; vegan or not.

I’m sure there will be the trolls and vegan haters that chime in. But seriously, if you can overlook the entire non-meat deal, Shea’s Sol Kitchen could be the next restaurant in Wichita that will really surprise you.
