China Star Super Buffet where the commercials are better than the food

It’s time I start to revisit many of the Chinese buffets around town. One of the more well-known ones around town thanks to their silly and hilarious commercials is China Star Super Buffet. If you’ve never watched them, set some time aside and enjoy the goodness here.

China Star Super Buffet is open six days a week. When you arrive, there are five buffet stations. Here’s a look at all five:

They have all the staples you’ll find at most buffets. Three stations contain most entrees and soups, one station holds the fruits and vegetables and the last one is desserts.

Years ago, when this place was busier, they had crab legs on the buffet… and hilarious commercials. Now, it’s all relatively basic items that really don’t do much to stand out from the crowd. I dropped by over lunch one weekend and it wasn’t that busy. There were four other customers over lunchtime. And with fewer customers comes less turnover on food, which isn’t a good thing. You don’t know how long it’s been sitting there.

I tried most of the entrees available and nothing really stood out for me. On the bright side, the steamed rice wasn’t rock hard like it was last time. But knowing how bad my experience during the last review, I wasn’t expecting much this time around… and they delivered! So at least there’s that!

Service was non-existent. Once my server walked me to my table and handed me a drink of water, I never saw her again until I asked to check out.
