I was feeling like getting some brunch so I sent a message to a couple of other local food bloggers, Significantly Spicy and Fert The Foodie to see if they’d be down to join me. After a brief discussion, we decided on River City Brewing Company.

One dish they had that is now on their permanent menu was River City Shakshuka. It’s inspired by the classic North African dish with a River City spin. It contains a spicy sauce of tomatoes and peppers with andouille sausage, sunny side up eggs, warm naan bread and sourdough baguette.
It’s a dish I’ve never had and love being introduced to new things.
This was one of those where you could eat it however you wanted. You could grab the naan bread and use it to scoop everything up. You could make a little sandwich with the baguette. I opted to cut the sausage up, break open the eggs, mix it all together and dip the naan into the cast iron pan. This meal really hit the spot. Lots of different flavors coming together, a little bit of spice, and a perfect brunch meal for those tired of the same old thing.
Of course, I had to get a mimosa because it was a Sunday morning. It was just one because the heartburn started to kick in; I love getting older.
Here’s the menu:
Happy Dining,
