Can we agree that any dessert La Galette French Bakery touches turns to gold?
I was told they have been toying around with different desserts. Something they had available over the weekend was a blackberry croissant bread pudding topped with crème anglaise. It’s only available for a few days (hopefully longer).
When I saw it on Saturday, it was after they closed so I had to wait until the following week when they had it again.
That day, I was really busy and didn’t arrive until 2:45 p.m. when they were getting ready to close. It felt like the walk of shame as I approached the counter. I asked if it was OK if I placed an order since they were getting ready to close for the day. The lady at the counter gave me a big, heartwarming smile and assured me it was totally OK and I could dine-in as well. All that put me at ease because I try as hard as I can to avoid stopping by places right before they close.
But this time was necessary because I wasn’t confident if they would have this dessert again.
Every bite was a slice of heaven. It wasn’t overly sweet, which was great. It was served warm so it felt like your taste buds were getting a big hug with each bite. There was plenty crème anglaise to go around and I made sure each piece was smothered in it.
This was probably one of my favorite desserts from La Galette, which is high praise in itself considering the number of options they have on hand.
