Ten restaurants to open this month include Grimaldi’s, Chuck’s Hot Chicken, Jinya Ramen Bar, Forge, Gyros Express, and Shawarma UR’s

Nearly halfway through April, the restaurant scene is about to see some big growth over the next two weeks. Several restaurants are set to open, so let’s just get down to business. Who’s opening in Wichita before the month ends?

Please note, that these dates could change.

Church’s Chicken – 503 N. West St.
Opening: Wednesday, April 19
This will be the city’s fourth Church’s Chicken once they open.

Crumbl Cookies

Crumbl Cookies – 2755 N. Maize Road
Opening: Thursday, April 20
Crumbl Cookies is a cookie chain based out of Utah and specializes in huge cookies the size of craters on the moon. They have a simple menu of rotating of 120+ cookies flavors that typically rotate weekly. Their flavors are inspired by desserts of all kinds – from pies to cakes to candies and more.

Chuck’s Hot Chicken – 2625 W Pawnee St.
Opening: Tentatively the week of April 17th
A new hot chicken restaurant based out of St. Louis, MO. Chuck’s Hot Chicken specializes in Nashville-style hot chicken. The restaurant trims and hand-breads, and fries all of their chicken to order using fresh chicken breasts. Originally scheduled to open on the 11th, delays caused them to push the opening to hopefully the week after.

Thao’s Bistro – 1825 S Broadway
Opening: Friday, April 21
One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in town is finally re-opening after being closed for over a year.

Jinya Ramen Bar – 124 S. Broadway
Opening: Monday, April 24
The restaurant chain out of Los-Angeles specializes in ramen and small-plates. They will be opening on the first floor of WSU Tech’s culinary school, NICHE.

Forge ICT – 917 E. Douglas Ave
Opening: Wednesday, April 26
Forge ICT is going to feature about 4 to 5 different steaks, short rib, airline chicken, pork chop, and some seafood. They will also be doing innovative, cutting-edge cocktails; all priced for the working man.

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria – 1441 N. Webb Road
Opening: Thursday, April 27
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, founded in Brooklyn, NY, serves traditional coal-fired brick oven pizza. They will be headed to the Waterfront and specialize in New York-style pizza.

Gyros's Express

Gyros Express – 2800 E. Central
Opening: Before the end of April
The former owners of Marrakech Cafe and Athens Restaurant are reopening a Mediterranean and Greek restaurant in the former Kiko’s and SmokeHouse space.

Shawarma UR’s – 8641 W. 13th St.
Opening: Before the end of April
A new locally owned build-your-own shawarma restaurant coming to west Wichita.

Lito’s – 756 N. Tyler Road
Opening: Postponed to early May
LITO’s will have a “lito bit of everything for everyone.” They will have a full 100% vegan menu and also a full menu for non vegans. They will have two separate fryers and two flat tops to keep it all 100% non-cross contaminated.
