Move over Souper Salad, Lettuce Express has arrived in Augusta, KS

Lettuce Express Augusta

Put me in the category of the people who miss the Souper Salad. The all-you-can-eat restaurant serving soups and salads used to be a frequent visit for me when they had a restaurant over at Kellogg and Rock Road. When I heard a similar local concept called Lettuce Express was coming to Augusta, KS, I blocked some time on my calendar to make the 30-minute drive to check it out.

Lettuce Express took over the space held by The Mustard Seed.

As I walked in, I was greeted by a mountain of bowls and plates awaiting me, along with someone who was standing by the cash register.

Pricing for dining in was $15.99/adults and $8 for kids 4-12. To go pricing was $14.99 for a large and $9.99 for a small. They also had pricing for just salad which was $9 for a large and $5 for a smile, was soup for $4.99 and $3.99 respectively.

I opted for the adult dine-in price as I was far past the kids pricing.

Here’s a small glimpse of what they had. (Yes, I forgot to take pictures of the main salad section).

I went through a couple of times and was more than pleased with everything I selected. The lobster bisque soup was my favorite of the soups, despite the 100-degree temps outside.

There was an option to add a 1 lb baked potato, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. It came up nice and warm, and I went back through the salad line to grab some butter, sour cream and beef to load my potato up. After that, I had to throw in the towel as that was more than enough food.

The service was very friendly, everything was fresh, and it more than passed any expectations I had. Do I wish this were located in Wichita? Of course, but if you find yourself headed to Augusta or nearby, this is certainly worth a stop.
