One of the newer food trucks I’ve been asked to visit has been Honey & Rue’s. According to the Facebook page, it’s a trailer that serves chopped deli subs and fruit-based desserts.
I had no idea what to expect and haven’t heard many reviews on them. When I saw them out at the Valley Center Fall Festival, they were priority #1 for me when it came to checking out the food court.

When I reached the front of the line, I made sure to get at least one thing from the chopped deli sub section of the menu and something from the desserts side.
The rodeo caught my and was ham, salami, pepperoni and Italian dressing. While perusing through the dessert options, I noticed that Honey & Rue’s had a pudding fruit parfait, made with pudding, cookie crumble, house made whipped cream, and fruit. To add to my list of choices to make, I had to decide the fruits, type of pudding and cookie crumble.
My options included strawberry, blueberry, kiwi, pineapple, peaches, banana, cherry, raspberry, and mango. For pudding, there was chocolate, vanilla, and banana. Then for cookie crumbles, Honey & Rue’s had vanilla wafer, Oreo, s’mores, graham cracker and chocolate chip.
My pudding fruit parfait had strawberry, blueberry and banana, along with chocolate pudding and graham crackers. This thing was beautiful. In fact, I had my compliments while walking around with it. But I learned, looks aren’t that important, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. This dessert, though, was the total package from. Not only was it a beautiful, it was delicious. Everything meshed well together, from the whipped cream to the pudding to the crackers to the fruit. The crackers offered a nice texture in each bite, and the bites were few and far between because we were stuffing our faces with the biggest spoonfuls possible.
Not only was the dessert excellent, the sub was perhaps even better. It’s been a while since I last had a chopped deli sub, and Honey & Rue’s may have quickly moved up my list as the best sub in Wichita and the surrounding area. Ham, salami, pepperoni, Italian dressing, all served on a 7” white sub roll.
The word amazing is probably the most overused phrase to describe food, and something I very rarely say anymore. But what the hell, I’m bringing it out for this review. Everything I had from Honey & Rue’s was indeed amazing.
I NEED to go back soon and try more of their subs and different desserts like the fruit pizza or fruit nachos or shortcake sandwich… or just the entire menu.
Speaking of the menu, here it is:
